You need something software-wise that can play your DVDs. PowerDVD, WinDVD, Windows Media Player 9 and even IFOEdit can do this, just to name a few.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Go into My Computer and into your C Drive. Go to Tools > Folder Options, and click the File Types tab. In there amongst other things should be an entry with Extension: (NONE) File Types: DVD. If there isn't, click the new button, leave the extension blank, click the advanced button and select DVD as the Associated File Type. OK your way back to the list. Click the DVD entry once then click Advanced. Click Play under Actions and click the Edit button. Click Browse button and locate the EXE for PowerDVD. OK your way out and all should be sweet.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Try putting (NONE) as your extension.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Probably but I wouldn't condone it as the best option just yet. Have you tried re-installing PowerDVD ? I'm thinking that it might re-assign the file associations if you do this.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Just found this:

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDRom] in the registry.

    Value Name: Autorun
    Data Type: REG_DWORD
    Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)
    If in doubt, Google it.

Click Start Menu. Go to run. type in REGEDIT and press Enter or OK. Navigate to the above path. Once you get to where the key is stored, double-click on it and you will be able to change its value. When you get to it, the value will be 0. Change this to 1. What this will do is next time you insert a DVD, it will bring up the "What do you want to do?" screen. From here you'll be able to select "Play using PowerDVD" and if you tick the "DOn't ask me again" box then it will do this until the cows come home.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Try right click on your DVD drive in my comp. (WinXP)->properties->autoplay tab->select video files-> pick an app below.
Also following jimmalenko advice you may try creating a PowerDVD association for .IFO and .VOB file extensions.
The easiest way to do that is to go to the content of your VIDEO_TS folder on the DVD drive pick any .IFO (and .VOB) file with right click -> "open with..." -> pick PowerDVD and check "always use...." below. That should do the trick.

Might be an idea to post exactly how you got it sorted i.e. if the registry edit worked, or proxyx99's suggestion worked.
    If in doubt, Google it.
