  1. Hi,

    My IE is messed up.

Whenever I right click an image and select "save as" it will only let me save it as a .bmp when it's a .jpg or .gif It used to default to the last folder I saved in and show the filename of the image. Now it shows like the Picture below. In the "Type" pull down box it only has .BMP extention. Any idea how to fix this? I have to use mozilla to save the pics now, which is fine but I'd like to figure this out. I've ran all the norton programs to find errors and that didn't do anything. Other than restoring to a few days I can't figure it out.

    Thanks

I've seen this several times in the microsoft newsgroups. Here's a copy of a recent discussion:

    Code:

I was being plagued with the same problem in the last week or two. And
checking properties of the image to be saved would stutter a JPeg type then
go to "Not available". Checking the KB doc mentioned didn't seem to fix it
but another associated one did concerning the "Downladed Program Files"
directory (or maybe that was vica versa or something). Anyway raising the
cache, deleting the temp files, and right-click removing of the "unknown"
files in the Downloaded Prog Files dir seems to have cured it for now.
Checking after each action showed negative response until the last action
    was taken.

    Hopefully it will keep.

Usually it happens, because your "Downloaded Program Files"-directory contains garbage-file(s), usually name is something like {JDFHGSJFJ..., beginning with { and then misc. characters.

Delete those files and everything should work. But notice, depending on your windows version, it may require admin-rights.
