whats with quicktime....how come, dvd Studio pro and idvd make dvds straighht from quicktimes, but get em on pc and they have to go through lengthy conversions first.
is it just that dvd SP etc convert them at the lastminute? b4 burning the dvd ?
if somebody could give me a rundown on qucktime in relation to dvd authoring my life would be easier.
cheers people

It's the way Apple have set it up iDVD does it's own crappy conversion to mpeg2 over which you have no control it was aimed at the domestic dummies market, whereas DVDSp 2 uses Compressor to do the conversion which is completely adjustable. You can set up DVDSP to do the conversion in the background whilst you are authoring rather than to leave it until the end, it sound like you are just using the default settings. IMO Apple still don't handle MPEG 2 as good as it should although they are getting better. I say this because I have captured uncompressed 8 and 10 bit and converted using compressor and compared it to the same footage captured through an MPX300(SPRUCE) hardware card and the quality does not even come close.
