  1. hey all,

I have a sony pc110 minidv cam, about 5 months ago I used it fine to transfer some video on some tapes that I had.

This past weekend I go up to an event and do some filming on someone else's camera (a samsung) and I use an adaptec pci card to transfer the video over through firewire. I used my notebook IBM T41. No problems at all. I get home from the event and I bring some tapes to plan to use my PC110 and when I go to start capturing I open up movie maker I hit capture, and when the camera plays, nothing is being transfered. The file size stays at 3 KB time on the capture is an 0:00:00 but the video is playing.

I have tried two different cables, two different PCI cards, Ulead studio, and moviemaker to capture.

Am I doing something wrong? I am pretty sure it can't be through USB, and for some reason the DV in/out isn't sending or something.

    Any ideas.

    Thanks,

    Martin

  2. Hmm interesting...

is there some type of rule that states you can only transfer a tape in a different camera then the one used to record only if it's the same manufacture???

Cause i just tried another tape that was recorded from the pc110 and it works without a problem.

Even a minimal difference in tape transport will affect miniDV. Can you playback this Samsung tape on your Sony?
MiniDV is very fussy and playing a tape from a different cam (even same manuf.) may give you huge problems.
