Have you uploaded the latest drivers from Hauppage? My Hauppage TV Go is a "keeper", and I use it when I want to capture in AVI.
Hello. -
Yes. I downloaded the latest driver from the Hauppauge website. Here they are :
wdm88x_21082
It's still giving the same problem.
VirtualDUB Capture Error
Error 418: Capture Device was not detected. -
Several years ago I looked into Virtual Dub and decided to not use it because it worked only with VfW drivers and not with WDM drivers. Not sure if that's still the case, or if it has been updated to work with WDM drivers. But I see you are using WDM driver so that may be your problem. Back then, there was a workaround called VfW wrapper or something like that. Do a search on "Virtualdub" and "wdm" and "vfw".

Thank you. Will search for the WDM wrapper.
I did a search in my pc and found this...
Vfwwdm32.dll - VfW MM Driver for WDM Video Capture Devices
Vfwwdm.drv - VfW MM 16bit Driver for WDM V. Cap. Devices
Wdmmdmld.vxd - WDMMDMLD Virtual Device (Version 4.0)
Does it mean that I already have vfw in my system ? -
Forget the official drivers. Download the latest btwincap drivers for your card.
To use them with virtualdub you have to install vfm2wdm wrapper.
Read this : http://www.virtualdub.org/docs_vfwwdm
Two tips:
1- when you insterting to the capture mode, feed your card with true video signal, not a blue VCR screen. Cards don't detect always this as a picture info (nvidia cards have this issue, but sometimes bt8xx cards also have it)
2- Since you use wrappers for virtualdub, you can't adjust stuff like system (PAL/SECAM/NTSC), your input source (composite, s-video, etc) or sometimes you can't even get the program detect the capture device (your case). So use the well known "trojan" method: Download virtualvcr and run it. Set input source, capture framesize and TV system there. Close the program when ready. Open virtualdub and insert the capture mode. Now, virtualdub is working OK for capture.
Also, I replied you to that old post of yours of how to make virtualdub work with wdm drivers -
BTWinCap link didn't seem to take.
Here's the main site:

Thanks SatStorm and gastorgrab. I have been keeping the Hauppauge WinTv Card for almost a year. Time to make use of it.
