Hi all. I'm in desperate need of help. I'm tired and fed up with nero. Never had any problems making cd's thats why i stuck with nero for dvd.
Anyway my problem is this. When i try to make a dvd video, 9 ou of 10 goes it hangs when it starts to write the lead in or first file of the video. i.e. VIDEO_TS.ifo I have tried different media and it still does the same. I have tried and followed all the guides with different set ups. I always use nero burning rom and not express, so as you can see its not silly things like that. My files are from dvd shrink and of course i insert them all and only to the video folder. I have proved its not the media as i have tried several different makes and not cheapies. maxwell, tdk, verbatim etc.. Also i have burnt these media with nero making backup of data and that always works. I have also burnt discs using my pinnalce studio9. So again it proves the media is okay and my dvd burner are okay.
I have even been in touch with nero support and i'm tired of re-installing without getting anywhere or a honest answer from them.
Any help please as i'm sick of wasting time valuable time and not getting anywhere other than a large collection of coasters!

What dvd burner are you using? I had a similar problem with my LG GSA-4040b burner. I contributed it to the media though (bad batch of riteks). But i manged to burn anyways by burning at 2x instead of 4x. But at least i got it going. I haven't had that problem since.
I should also mention the problem never coastered the discs, when it got stuck saying it was writing the leadin, it never actually started the burn. I had the pile of discs on the ground and realized i could still burn them. It was messed up.
It was a really annoying problem, cause i'd try other programs, and i'd get a burn to work. And go woo, that was the problem, but then it'd screw up the next burn again.
so my suggestion would be to write the media a little slower, maybe you're drive is being sketchy. -
For starters I would purchase some RW DVDs.
Try switching to Nero Express and follow my guide here.
Make sure you have either DVD Shrink 3.1 or 3.2 and output to an ISO Image file, then use DVD Decrypter in ISO Write mode to burn.
Drop your burner into a mate's computer and test it in that.If in doubt, Google it. -
I'm using a pioneer 106 burner and dvd-r and don't wory i do test with dvd-rw's to save making coasters. I do burn at 1x speed this still gives problems. I'm never in a rush so will always choose the slowest speed. The only problem is sometimes it will work with a dvd-rw when it didn't before and then i use a dvd-r to make a permenant copy and thats the coaster. I have made some perfect dvd-r. The problem is there is no consistency! I can't keep banging out disks trouble free there is alaways a problem.

I had a 106 before I purchased my 107 and it started to become very temperamental. It would burn one disc OK, but as soon as I went to burn another disc, it would hang during the leadout every single time. I could reboot and burn the exact same thing fine, then it would again hang no matter how many different discs I put in. I sent it back as it was still under warranty and they said the firmware was corrupted, and reflashed it with the latest firmware.
To test it I handballed it to my brother
but he has said it is working beautifully now.
Perhaps a firmware flash is in order. If in doubt, Google it.
