  1. Is this possible? I was wondering if there is a way to hook my laptop to my tv to record a movie? Is it really complicated and how do I go about doing it if it is possible? Any help appreciated! Thanks!

What do you want to do?

If you want to send the video from a laptop, you need a video output. Mine has SVHS out and I can send that to my TV, which has SVHS input. If I wanted to capture video from a video source, I would need a video capture card on my laptop.

Either way, you will need a video system on your computer or a PCMCIA card that can input/output video. Laptops have the further disadvantage of a generally slower processor and a smaller harddrive that makes video capture/output more difficult.

There are USB 2.0 external boxes that can make it easier.

  3. I'm assuming you want TV-out. Does your laptop have an svideo port? many do. then you can get a cheap svideo to RCA (red/yellow/white) standard AV hookup cable. If it doesn't have an S-Video port, then it probably has a standard VGA out, and there are VGA-to-TV adpaters but I don't think they're cheap.
