  1. So i have two laptops 1) windows xp 2) windows vista
I am hooking up the RGB video and audio from my latops (one at a time) to the Sony XBR LCD.
With the windows vista one, the audio creates a crazy static sound that is unbearable. Using the same audio cord (3.5 mini rca jack), I try it to the other laptop with the windows xp, no static. Same audio cord, same settings...........any idea why vista laptop creates static but windows xp laptop is clean?

    thanks!

    Static as in no audio?

What do you hear if you hook it to a different audio amp?

The problem is probably in the laptop audio settings or audio driver.

These are your typical Vista audio output settings. The menys vary by laptop audio chipset.

The problem is the menus differ by audio chipset and computer manufacturer. The one above is for a Via chipset and the audio architecture and driver are provided by Realtec. This is probably most common. Does your computer have the Realtec AC97 chipset and do your menus look like the one above?

Your computer manufacturer support line will know what you have.

My Compaq-HP laptop uses the Conexant audio chipset and menus look like this.

This why you should consult the manufaturer or a forum that supports your brand.
