Check out the posting "HOW to make a trailer/splash DVD lead in?" There are several solutions posted in that thread. Among them:

    Macrografx Simply 3D (http://store.yahoo.com/5dollarsoftware/misi3d.html)

    Xara 3D (http://www.xara.com/products/xara3d/default.asp)

    Wax, by Satish Kumar (http://www.debugmode.com)

And, my personal favorite (however it's rather spendy), Adobe After Effects (http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects)

Since you have Video Studio, why not use Cool 3D. I made this short video for Kirky99 to show how easy and powerful the VS7 and Cool 3D combo can be.

Thats a really cool effect tommyknocker...I would like to learn to make something like that myself, except I have Premeire Pro.....I do have After Effects also but its version 5.5 though...would I be able to create those same effects?

Why, thank you very much. I don't see why not. VS7 and Cool 3D are only a fraction of the price of Premiere and After Effects, ergo, they only have a fraction of the power. If I were you, I would scout around for the tutorials that handle titling.

If you have it, I say use it...After Effects, that is. That's what I used for my dvd intro http://home.comcast.net/~clarkkrystopher/KrystopherKreations60.wmv.

I used the Zaxwerks plug-in that came with AE 6.5 PRO -- it doesn't come with the standard edition of 6.5. It may have come, though, free with 5.5. Anyway, Zaxwerks is what made the actual letters 3D. It's awsome.

If you're interested, Creatvie Cow has lots of good tutorials and most of them were written for 5.0/5.5 rather than 6.0/6.5 so they should be pretty easy to follow.

Creative Cow: http://www.creativecow.net/index.php?forumid=1. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see three or four links to more AE tutorials. I've learned a LOT from Creative Cow.

    Good luck,

Thanks for the link.....that was a really cool intro that you made Krytopher, thats something I would like to do as well. I think there should be a thread where everyone posted their best intro's using whatever software they had. That would really inspire some creativity in us all. Ive had the TitleDeko Pro program that was a plugin for Premeire, but with Pro's included title maker im not sure how good it really is compared to an outside program.

Thanks. My next step is to remove the HBO theme song and replace it with something original. I'm tinkering with QuickTracks for Premiere now.

Another forum you might be interested in, if you haven't found it already, is Wrigely Video (http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/forum/index.php?act=SC&c=2). It's another forum I check often. They don't have many tutorials for After Effects but they've got some good ones for Premiere.

Oh, another resource for After Effects tutorials... http://xtreme-is-back.com/tutorials.html.

OH! And the place I learned most about After Effects was Lynda.com. I think it's well worth the $25 a month membership. You can watch all the training videos you want for just 25 bucks a month!!! I think I went through the entire After Effects tutorial in less than 48 hours. I've gone on to watch PhotoShop, Illustrator and several others. I though about upgrading to the yearly membership to get the lesson files but decided it really wasn't necessary.

One last link for you: http://timecapsule.co.nz/videopages/main_videoFrameset-1.htm. Check out number five. I "borrowed" the idea and made something similar that I've very happy with and proud of. If I get a chance (and have the space), I'll post it later.

If someone provides the webspace, I'd upload some of my 3d video intros.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
