  1. I want to buy a another standalone DVD player to go as a secondry to my Phillips DVDR recorder, I may be asking for the moon on a stick but want one that does all the following

Play DVD-R/DVD+R and +RW and -RW perfect without freezing
    Play VCD/CD-R/RW
Can be set to muti region
    Will play MP3 DVDS
    Will play MP3 CDS

Will reconise .JPGS and .MPGS on cd-rs and show them on screen/play them
    PAL/NTSC compatible

The new one in the living room does all the above expect the bolded oponion, I may be asking for too much perhaps but is there a player make and model out there that does all that?
DVD region settings are a joke, I can't believe how stupid people are falling for it

  4. I suggest the Phillips DVP-720SA. This I believe plays the formats you request, I would double check the stats on this site to make sure. It also plays mpeg-4 files and super audio cd's. These are the newest formats available today and with this player I feel you will not be outdated. It also has scalable component video output. I really want to get one of these but they will not ship them to the U.S. This DVD player plays both PAL and NTSC and has a 100 ~ 240 v power supply meaning I could use it here with no problem. I think it also has S-CART connection. The region code hack I believe is: Tray open, no disc. On remote press 9-9-9-9-X. Where X represents the region you want to select. Press 0 for region free. The region number you select should appear on the screen. Let me know if this player interests you, and let me know if I can send you cash for an extra one and have you ship it here heh heh heh.
    cheers.
