For those of you who are experienced with Visual Studio .NET, would you rather use Visual Studio .NET or Visual Studio 6? I just started C++ with Visual Studio 6, but I really don't want to put alot of effort into it if it isn't going to be up to today's standards. Thanks for any help.

First of all, any C++ experience is good. What you do in Studio 6 will carry over to .NET, as well as any C++ enviroment. The .NET architecture is gaining momentum, and C# is getting close to overtaking VB.

I have found that C# is much more like JAVA than C or C++. Currently, every project I do for our SDK has both VB and C# examples. My C++ is not nearly as strong as my VB, JAVA, or C#, but I would definately be more marketable, and earn more if I developed the C++ skills more. At my age, I doubt that I will, as I am happy doing what I do and making what I make.

IMO, the best advice I can offer is to stick with the C++, learn it well, then maybe pick up the JAVA, and C#. When you have mastered those, throw in the VB (if it is still around....should be), for good measure.
