  1. I have recently installed visual studio 2005 pro on vista ultimate 32 bit, under the administrator account. I installed the service pack, as well as the update for vista systems. I then rebooted, and tried out the install - vs starts fine, but trying to create a new project in vb or c# (i have these installed only along with asp) will fail bringing up a dialog box "requested registry access is not allowed" both in the admin account, and my account which has admin privilideges, as well as UAC disabled. I can open up existing projects and compile them as well, but i just can't create new ones. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it?

  2. Try launching VS with the "Run As Administrator" option (right-click on the VS shortcut).

I had problems with project outputs such as COM objects not being registered properly even though I was logged in as Administrator. Not running with Admin rights prevented registration. The above resolved the problem.

  3. i have tried running as administrator. I had set the shortcut properties to always run as administrator.

I tried giving myself complete access rights in the registry - while that enabled me to create new projects in vs, when i reboot - vista doesn't work at all. It will go past the green bar and then go black, white cursor, and nothing.
