I have an AVI that I want to convert to SVCD. Using DVD2SVCD (AVI2SVCD) and CCE, the resulting file is out of sync. Oddly enough loading it directly into TMPGEnc and encoding, the sync is fine.

If I use vdub to save the audio to an uncompressed wav, if I try to remux the uncompressed audio with the video and save it, thats out of sync too!

I'm going nuts here trying to work out the problem... It seems as soon as the audio is parted from the video, and later remuxed, sync is lost. Yet this doesn't occur using TMPGEnc. I've checked audio and video durations, they match. Framerate of the AVI is 23.976fps.

The avi is perfectly synced. Can anyone help me get it to encode insync in AVI2SVCD?

I don't like TMPGEnc for MPEG2. Much slower than CCE, and I prefer the quality CCE gives.

  4. Have you tried using a frameserver such as vdub or avisyth to feed it to the encoder? Sometimes that will fix weird problems.

Using AVI2SVCD, Avisynth is used as a frameserver.

I have (kinda) resolved the issue. I encoded video with CCE and used the audio from my TMPGEnc encode, multiplexed together and achieved sync.

I remain puzzled as to the cause of this problem though...

  7. I have exactly the same problem using CCE, where the muxed file is out of sync. When you look at the seperate .mp2 file created by avi2svcd before it got muxed, it is the right audio.
But with the muxed file, it seems like the first few seconds of the audio are skipped. There is still audio trough the entire movie, only the first seconds of the audio are cut off so the audio runs ahead of the video.
For example, i encoded an episode of the serie The O.C., and when you open the .mp2 you'll hear "Previously on the O.C." while in the muxed file that part is skipped, causing the audio to run out of sync.
I also encoded it with TMPGEnc, and it all works fine, only it looks like the quality is far worse than that of CCE, i'm now burning it on SVCD to see it on my tv if it's still watchable.
Anyone knows how to make it work fine with CCE?

P.S Another flaw of TMPGEnc is that you can't set the sample rate. It stays on 44khz, so i have to convert it to 48khz manually for it to work on a DVD-SVCD.
