I want to fit more video on the disc. The content is from camcorder so the audio is low quality. I am considering the following:
1. Compress with mp2. Is that OK with most settop players?
2. Use lowre frequency PCM. The camcorder is only 32K, I think. The DVD standard is 48K. Can I use 32K instead?
Thanks!

2) for DVD compliance audio must be 48khz. The camcorder can probably record audio at 48khz too, so change the setting, there is no benefit to 32khz. Use of PCM audio will take up lots of space, so stick with mp2 or if you are in an NTSC region, consider Ac3. 256kbps for 2 channel will give excellent quality for either format.
