What is everybody's opinions on DVDxCopy because alot of sites claim it to be excellent for DVD5 to 1DVD-r and DVD9 to 2 DVD-r. It also seems to be a really good product.
If not, what is the best program for full back-ups, ( no quality loss or extras loss![]()

stability of dvdxcoy gold is horrible. I used it successfully for 5-6 copies, then it stopped working. The people at tech support gave me a list of programs that might interfere with the softwre, and it turns out that i would have to uninstall 3 or 4 programs just to keep it working. Nowhere on the box is there a warning of incompatible software. A waste of $100 in my book. Still doesnt work.

I think It's junk, quit using had nothing but problems and also Brian Moore stole the technology for it anyway.

there is lots of free software out there that does a better job.

The original full version had two things going for it - it could rip protected DVDs without the need for extra software, and was a one button solution for people not inclined to learn the finer arts of DVD backups. Quality wise it is middling. Some people found it caused a lot of issues with their machine. With the demise of 321 Studios, I guess it now has collector value.
I fairly quickly moved on to better methods.
The platinum edition also included a piece of software called DVDxRescue. This I have used on a number of times to get data from scratched disks (kids - doesn't matter what you do) that other programs such as DVD Decrypter gave up on. -
Well, its stability is poor to middling.
However, it is STILL the easiest way to break up a DVD9 onto two DVD5's. Can't beat one-click solutions for ease-of-use.
As for DVD5->DVD5, DVD Decrypter is free, fast, and nearly as easy. Why anyone wouldn't just to ISO->Read, ISO->Write with DVD Decrypter is beyond me.
Now, for reading scratched discs, there are a few decent proggies out there now, all are either shareware or commercial, though.
