  1. I'm backing up a long movie and putting it onto two DVD-R. I'd like to have a screen come up saying "Intermission" at the end of the first disc.

Can anyone tell me how I can create the MPEG out of a JPG? I've used TMPGENC, but the resulting MPG file only lasts about a second.

I'm not sure if this is an authoring problem, or something I need to change when I create the MPEG.

I'm planning on using either TMPG DVD Author to add the "intermission" clip or just DVD Shrink.

    Thanks in advance.

You can use Windows Movie Maker 2 to generate the AVI file.
Create a BMP file that has required text. Drop that in Windows Movie Maker and assign a length, say 30 secs, or 1 min. Create an AVI file.
Use TMPGENC to encode it to Mpeg2 file.

  4. There are guides to doing that in the how to section. You also need ifoedit to create a loop. Step by step was very easy and quick. Or download some of the premade ones.

Create your bmp or jpg in your favorite program (MS Paint will even work).

Get a piece of audio the required length, or create blank audio of the appropriate length. Windows Sound Recorder can do this if you mute the input (mic).

In TMPGEnc, use your bmp/jpg for the video source and your sound file for the audio source. Select the standard DVD template for your region (NTSC/PAL). It will output 2 elementary streams (m2v, mp2) of the proper length, which you can use in TDA.
