  1. OK

I transferred some video from MiniDV to my computer (usuing Ulead DVD Workshop 2)

I then used TMPGE to convert that footage to MPEG-2 (for DVD use)

Now, I need to rearange some of the scenes so I need to cut it into pieces and do some merging.

TMPGE crashed EVERY time! I tried defragging my HD and that helped, it started to work nomal, but not it's right back to crashing every time.

I am taking the file (about 1.6GB) loading it under MPEG tools

    I then select "EDIT"

When I try to move the cursor (weather I have it in PLAY or PAUSE) or try and manually input the time codes at the top, it freezes!

    What is going on????

    Any ideas?

Or are they any OTHER programs I can use to easily cut and join mpeg files??

    **UPDATE**

When I play the file in Windows Media Player it sometimes crashes too. ONLY when I try and use the slider at the bottom to jumo ahead during video.

Could there be a problem during the conversion process?

I used TMPGE to convert it

    I am stumped!

  2. OK...

This is no my day... week or month!

    I Downloaded VideoReDo

LOOKED GREAT, was fast and easy to use!

Here is the problem (copied from the email I just sent them)

"I am using your trial version of the software. Looks great! But a very big problem!

1 (minor) I keep putting in the "demo" registration key you sent me over email. Does not work

    2. (HUGE PROBLEM) I am trying to cut some video at specific points so I can add other video in and remerge them together. I watch the video in the window and set the start marker at the beginning of the file and set the end marker at 10:04, where it shows me the scene ending on the screen.

Right away I know something is wrong, because while watching the video in Windows Media Player, the end of the scene is at 9:31

So, I cut it and looked at the file. It doesn't even cut at the right scene end as it showed on the screen.

So the counter appears to be wrong?? Not sure! What it shows me on the screen of WHERE it will cut, is NOT where it actually cuts the video. It cuts it about 34 seconds TOO FAR.

So, when I saw the video on the screen in yoursoftware the cut LOOKED fine, but upon playing the finished cut video, it didn't stop cutting until 34 seconds later.

    What is going on?"

    ???????????

May I point out you don't need to cut anything if your going to "Author" a DVD? Most Authoring software will allow you to set a start/stop point for any given clip. And of course use the clip multiple times to re-arrange things.
