befopre converting my avi to mpeg i always use mp3 freeze to check for bad frames.(i use gary's avi to svcd 3 step foolproof guide).
occassionally mp3 freeze tells me there are no bad frames when there are bad frames because i get audio sync problems after conversion.
is there any way to find these bad frames besides checking every frame manually?

Is the audio ac3 if so you should extract the ac3 file and encode only the video.
There are more causes of bad audio sync than just bad frames. If you scanned for bad frames and it said 'all frames appear good' then I don't know why they shouldn't be all good.
