With not much to go on, I'd say bad/incompatible media.
Could you describe your process in a little more detail?
What is your source material? What do you do with that (every step until you've got a Video DVD disc in your hand)?

I use DvD-RW's disks. If you need more info can you tell me what kind of info you need -) It will work in my friends dvd play just not mine.I know the dvd play works it might work if the movie is in a file i just dont know how to put it in one.Thank you for your time!

Avoid using words like "it" (i use Cucusoft to change it ) when nobody has a clue as to what "it" might stand for!
It's not easy when you're new to things to know what's relevant and not, but descriptions like:
I have an AVI with X fps, YxZ resolution, a bitrate of D, encoded with the xyz codec. The audio is encoded as Q. It's z minutes long. I load it into Z, cange the q setting to p, the w setting to h, and click Start. Then I take the z file from Z output, load it into J and change the U setting and save.
are what at least I like to see to be able to pinpoin problems.

Never used Cucusoft, but that the DVD plays fine in your friends player, suggests a media incompatibility issue with your player. It might not like DVD-RW at all, or not the manufacturing of the DVD-RW you use or... Try other types of media (+RW, +R -R) and other brand/manufacturer of media.
The movie shouldn't be "in a file" for best compatibility - it should be authored as VOBs IFOs and BUPs in a VIDEO_TS folder, so you're on the right track.
