I'm curious if you're able to set where the layer break will take place
when burning to DL media. Some store bought movies switch layers in the
most inopportune times which really sucks.
Thanks,

Well any DVD Authoring software that allows multiple layer authoring should allow you to set the break point. You are actually required to manually set it at an exact point in all software I've ever seen.
But with DL burning now hitting the market, you can expect to see simplified burning/authoring programs. I wouldn't be suprised at all if we see programs like DVD Decryptor add the ability to just burn a full ~8.5 gig DVD iso, using the layer break specified on the original DVD. In these cases, no I seriously doubt you would be able to just change the layer break point. Its something that is specified in the IFO and I believe it can only fall at a specific point, such as between two cells, or two vob-ids. You can't just pick a random point in time and choose to set it there, you must author the DVD around this point. -
I seem to recall reading a post or 2 about D/L burning that said the breakpoint wil have to be the exact middle point of all the data on the disk. Also there may be ways to put stuffer packets at the end of the movie to fill the spaces between where the point is set, and where it needs to be.
And if memory is correct, DVD Decrypter already supports copying from D/L media to D/L media, but you might want to check on that.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
