hi,
please could some help me with this problem
i have an .avi file that i want to turn into a mpeg2 file.
i use virtualdub to makethe audio a .wav file and tmpegenc to encode the video.
however when encoding it, i can't get the encoded file to work with sound.
i've updated all my codecs, the source file is encoded with .mp3 but changing the sound to .wav, i thought that would be ok.
the strangest thing is if i encode the video as a mpeg1 file it works fine.
please can someone help me on this.
many thanks
Adam

I don't understand. You pulled out the audio with V-dub and saved it as a WAV. Then you encoded the video with TMPGEnc. Without sound? With the WAV file selected as the sound? How did you re-join the video and sound?
Sorry if I don't get it, but it would be helpful if you describe your process in a bit more detail. -
sorry about the description.
ok.
i have an .avi file that i want to turn into a mpg2 file for a dvd.
before what i did was take the audio from the source using virtualdub making it a .wav file, then using tmpgenc i would use the .avi for the video source and the .wav file for the audio source. Then using the DVD template on tmpgenc encode the .avi to make a mpg2 file.
however now i cannot make an mpg2 file as when i go through this process the picture comes out but no audio.
but if i encode the .avi file using a vcd template making it a normal mpg1 file, it works fine.
and it's like this on any file i try.
any suggestions
thanks -
you do not need to remove the sound, TMPGEnc will automatically make a wav file from the sound. all that stuff you do with virtualdub is completely unnessescary
