I have a Sony subwoofer that has a light which turns green when it is detecting a signal and turns red when no signal is being detected. The light is almost always green when I watch TV & play CDs, but it is almost always red when I play DVDs. It will turn green when there is a big explosion or something like that (and it will send out a killer sound), but the subwoofer remains red for about 90-95% of the time when I watch a DVD. I have all the settings at the recommended levels, but I am using the standard cable that the subwoofer came with. Would a better cable allow my subwoofer to detect signals better from DVDs? Any recommendations? Thank You!

it's probably behaving correctly, dependant on your amp settings it may only be very low frequency signals that are sent to the sub. for instance, if your surround speakers are set to "medium" or "large" there's not as much bass redirection as when they're on "small"
