Well I picked one up in early April and it had been working fine until just now.
I was ripping some data and I heard a pop. At first I thought it was a disc problem - maybe somehow coming out of the tray - but no such luck.
The drive will not read anything... cd ...dvd ...music disc...game disc. I switched out the power molex, the eide cable - no go. Checked device manager - it says that it's enabled and functioning properly (Shows what windows xp knows) but when you put a disc in there, the light comes on like it's reading it but there is no seeking 'hour glass' on the monitor screen and the drive shows empty in my computer.
BenQ is closed right now. I'll call them in the morning and get an rma going.
I know that every company has to have some defective product so I'm not going to be concerned unless it happens again
In case anyone is curious about this company and their product service I'll let you all know how it goes.
