Windows Media Player 7.0 is persona non grata.

But It doesn't show up in the add/remove program box.

    I have Windows Me.

I want it gone so Windows Media Player 6.4 rules the MPEG playback.

I *think* that with WinME, WMP v7.0 is the default player. You will have to download v6.2 and install it, I am not sure whether this will make v6.2 the default player. If not, then you can associate it with the file extensions that you wish to use it with. To do this (In Win 98 SE - WinME may differ slightly, I dont know...) go to My Computer>View>Folder Options>File Types. You can then edit the properties of each file type, specifying the application to open it with and the path to that application.
I dont think that you can remove WMP v7.0 from ME, I have a feeling it is "built in".

  3. WMP 7 is the default, but if i remember correctly 6.4 is still knocking around in there... I think it's in the system directory and it has the old icon.

    I found 6.4.

I wanted to know if 7.0 could be uninstalled.

  5. Not really, 7 also has all the new codecs and stuff, just go thru the file associations and delete all links to 7, then the next time you open a media file it will ask which prog to use. You could also edit all of those associations to poin to 6.4
