I have tried FairUse, AutoGK, XMPEG, SimpleDivX and other conversion tools and I can't seem to find one that works consistently. Each tool has its own quirks and fails to successfully transcode certain DVDs.
What I want is a *professional* tool that works everytime, where the audio/video doesn't get out of sync and is completely configurable. Cost (assuming it's not excessive) is not really a consideration. I would happily pay for a tool if it worked reliably.
Any suggestions???
Thanks.

Take your pick. I personally do not believe it is possible to have a perfect encoder since all video files can have their little quirks, and it is always going to be up to the end-user to learn and adapt to them. I would dearly love to have a perfect system for doing it too, but I have stuck with Gordian Knot (which is really excellent, if you want to give it a shot) and worked it all out.
If you're after something really simple that doesn't cost the earth, try Dr. DivX. You can't go wrong with it.
Best of luck to you, and if you find a gem of an encoder do let us know!
