How do I take a video, and add subtitles to it so that I can then burn it as a VCD (I know how to burn a VCD) so that when the video plays the subtitles come up as normal.

I know how to take a video without subtitles, and download subtitles, and then put both in the same folder and play the video from that location, so that the subtitles show up while the video is playing. I just need to know how to take said subtitles, and stick them on the video where they need to go, so that when I burn the VCD they show up as they would if I was just watching the video on my computer.

I've looked around, but I've yet to find anything on this. If this is already covered, which I'm sure it is, please just link me to the information I need and this thread can die or something. Thanks a lot.

Lots of things to make assumptions about here, but: I asume you have an AVI and encode to VCD and have the subtitles in .ssa (or can convert them to .ssa using SubtitleStudio) format.
Load the AVI in VirtualDub. Load the Avery Lee Subtitler filter. Load the .ssa in this filter. If colors, font sizes, positions and such are not to your liking, edit those parameters in the .ssa file.
Frame server to your encoder from VirtualDub.

  3. Please also note that there are additional VirtualDub filters that take care of subtitles: Vobsub (for idx/sub files) and Textsub (great for srt for instance, also works with SSA and many other sub formats) - both come with Vobsub and work great with subtitles.

You are in no way limited to SSA

    Cheers
