trying to join 2 avi files together to make a dvd, using tmpgenc plus and goldwave + vdub, i take the sound from both files with goldwave, and video using vdub, join the video files together with easy video joiner, and join sound files with goldwave, convert sound with fmpeggui to ac3, then encode video with tmpgenc, the output dvd video is fine, and first part of movie sound is in sync, but where the second file has joined, the sound goes 1 second out of sync for the remainder of the movie, anyone know why?

now i have the m2v video (already encoded) and the stripped sound in wave format, is there a way to edit the sound file - strecth it or something to get back into sync? its just the second part where the movies joined where the problem starts, my video total runtime is 1.55.27 and the stripped wave file is 1.55.26

Why join them? When i have that situation I just leave them as chapters during the authoring.

When I've transferred a VHS to my HDD I end up with 3 or 4 AVI files. I just convert them to MPEG 2 and use TMPG Author to get them on a DVD. the files are kept separate and I end up with 3 or 4 chapters. When I play the DVD I don't notice the chapters changing. But I suppose there may be a skip under some circumstances, and I don't have audio sync problems.
Give it a try with a R-RW and see what happens.

All of the above is good advice. I suspect the problem started with the use of EZ Video Joiner. That thing is only good for small files. Use Virtualdub instead. If Vdub can't do it because of frame rate or audio type problems than you shouldn't bother joining them at all. Simple as that.

I use AVISynth to fix stuff like that.

    AVISource("clip_1.avi")+AVISource("clip_2.avi").DelayAudio(.xxx)+AVISource("clip_3.avi")...

And so on and so on...
