I would appreciate anyones help on this problem. I am attempting to burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder on my computer. When I open the various .VOB files from my computer, they open in my PowerDVD player and play just fine. I attempted to burn them using Nero Express 6. When I went to play the DVD, the title screen was just fine (both audio and video) but when I go to play the individual songs (its a concert DVD) the picture is fine but the sound is snowy/hissing and the voices can barely be heard and they are very, very sllllooooooowwwwwww. I thought the files must be all right since I can play them on my computer so I tried burning using Xilisoft DVD Creator3 and I got the same result. I than read on this forum about freeware called ImgBrn and downloaded it but decided before I waste another DVD+R I would ask if anyone might know what the problem is? Thanks

What format is the audio encoded in. DVD can carry multiple formats of audio.

You may have encoded in a format which can play on your computer, which cannot be played on your player.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure how to check that but if you can tell me I will be happy to post that info. However, I think I may not have been clear in my original post. After burning the DVD+R I am attempting to play it on my computer using PowerDVD(I also have used Realplayer and WMP). With all of them I get the same result, both the audio and video are great during the title screen but when I select "Play" on the title menu than the video remains fine but the audio does as I described above. And as I said above, what confuses me is that when I play the .VOB files directly from my computer everything works great but when I try to play the burned DVD on my computer the audio is screwed up. And it is not screwed up on the title screen but is when I attempt to actually play the DVD. Thanks again for the help.

Since you have powerDVD you can find out if the audio encoding differs for the menu and the movie by using the show information option.

You can turn it on by selecting the menu option after right-clicking in full screen mode.

Have you burned with verification (read back of the entire DVD after write) or are you relying on faith in your burner and media?

Why don't people use DVD RWs to test things when they have problems ? No more coasters (to steal a phrase).

I wouldn't let a Xilisoft product on my computer, but that's just me. I certainly wouldn't use any software that calls itself a DVD creator to open an existing DVD, as the object of the software is to create DVDs - something you don't need because you already have one. Chances are high Xilisoft screwed your disc up.

However the first question I would ask is where did these files come from ?
Did you author them yourself ?
    Did you download them ?
Did you rip them from an existing disc ?

The Show Information says the audio for both the title and the dvd is LPCM2.0. While doing that I have also learned that the DVD I burned using Nero will play in WMP. Also, if I go into My Computer and right click on the drive that the DVD is in and have it play in PowerDVD the audio is messed up on everything except the title menu. However, if I right click on the drive and open the files and open the VIDEO_TS folder and than right click on each individual .VOB file and click on Play with PowerDVD than each section plays just fine. But than if I go back and close all of that out and just try to play the DVD in PowerDVD I still have the problem with the audio and more importantly I have the problem when I try to play it on my standalone DVD player.
I am about to give up. I am thinking that it may be just a bad download even though I can get each .VOB to play off of my hard drive. I may just scrap it and start over.

Is the audio on the menu AC3 ? Strictly speaking, the audio on the menu must match the audio on the same track of the titles in that title set. If a player abides strictly by the spec, it will switch to the mode specified by the menu audio track, and if the title doesn't match, you get no audio. I was caught out by the early on when I had an mpeg-2 audio track on the menu, and AC3 audio on the main title. Took a bit of head scratching to work it out.

First and foremost, stop using crap software. That is the cause of all your problems.

Convert with DVD Flick or FAVC, burn with Imgburn. They aren't fancy, but they use tried and tested tools, use them well, and produce results that work. Something you haven't been able to achieve thus far.
