    I have a Cendyne DVD-R/W (rebadged Pioneer A04). I got a spindle of ritek 4x discs a while ago. They have never worked right. I can burn in 1x just fine, but if I move up to 4 I usually get some strange errors in any burning program (RecordNow, dvddecrypter) before the burn even starts.

    Any idea what this problem is? The other day I burned 2 DVD-Rs without any problem at 4x, now suddenly this problem is occuring again. Need to clean the laser, re-install drive, what's the deal here?

    I have no idea --- and I don't feel like coastering another DVD-R to find out. It's just a bunch of gibberish that RecordNow gives me. I think dvddecrypter used to report them as power callibration errors or something.
