  1. Hi all... I am looking for some help as I have gone thru about 40 cdr's trying different methods and software and have been unable to make any VCDs that will play in my toshiba sd-2705 dvd player.
This is really upsetting as I used to be able to make them on an older pc (I do not remember the specs) but now on my new computer I cannot.

    I have tried :

NTI CD & DVD Maker v6
    Nero Burning ROM
    burnatonce
    VCDEasy2
    EazyVCD 115a
    Super DVD Ripper
Also have the latest ASPI layer

Now, the ripping appears to be fine...well actually everything APPEARS to be fine... I get no errors what so ever and when I compare the files/format of the newly created VCD vs the ones from the old pc they are the same.
    So... any ideas or suggestions?

Right now using an HP Pavilion Athlon 2800, 512mb, samsung sw-248f cd-r/rw...
I have(lately) been using EasyVCD to rip bin/cue images and the burnatonce to burn to vcd...

    Many Thanks! Wolf

  3. Have you tried scanning your MPG video files with VCDEasy's MPG Analyser?

It may find any errors with the encoding.

I'm guessing that by "disc error" you are referring to your standalone DVD player, right? Are you sure your it's capable of playing VCD's?

  5. They play fine on my computer using WM but the problem I am having is playing on my standalone. And yes it will play them.. Toshiba SD2705. I had made them in the past on a different computer but now on my new computer I cannot. I have checked the specs of the CD-R/RW and it show to be able to make VCD and my standalone shows to be able to play them and it has in the past.

VCDEasy did not find any problems..... See that is the thing, I never get any errors until I try to play them in my stand alone.... but then I can get one of the VCD I made on the old computer and play it just fine.

  6. I am only left with two options that I can think of.... one get rid of WinXP as I know when I was successfully making them it was on WinMe... OR trying another CD-r/rw.... But both seem drastic to me and Both should work....My toshiba SW-248f shows to be compatible and I am sure XP is.... Any other suggestions? Maybe a a cdrw that someone has successfully used?

Are you certain that you are not doing anything different from how you authored the discs on the other computer? Are you adding menu's or anything like that?

  8. I have the same problem with bad medias with some vcds. In my Philips its play all right, but in Panasonic no.

I burn it in a new quality disc (pioneer) and now everything is ok.

  9. I have pretty much decided it is my CDr/rw... However I think I will just wait until I can afford a good DVD-burner and go from there.... I can still make audio cd's and mp3 cds ok.... Thanks for the help and ofcourse any other suggestions are welcome.

BTW I was mostly using memorex cdr's (yea I know they are cheap) but I had aslo tried some maxell's that I had had good luck with in the past(although I do not know if they are actually any better in quality.)
