  1. Hi guys,

I am colecting some videoclips with ac3 2.0 and 5.1 dolby surround. I would like to perform audio and video fades on start and end to look more cool.

My question is regarding the audio portion, does anyone know how to do that on an ac3 file without converting them to wav then back to ac3?

    Many thanks!

You can't edit ac3 files, the only way is to convert to mp3 or
wav and use a audio editer like Acid pro. They have a plug-in for ac3 5.1
    converting.

Thanks! For ac3 2.0 thatīs ok. My question is: is Acid Pro capable of convertind a stereo file (mp3 or wav or mp2) in an ac3 dd 5.1 again?

  4. You can edit AC3 files, and GoldWave will do just this.

    Hope this helps,

Even though Gold Wave can load and edit AC3 files, it cannot save them as such. At least my 5.06 version can't.
    Hello.

  6. Slight miscalculation there, thanks for letting us know.

I downloaded GoldWave suspecting it could do this, and sure enough it opened the file and edited it. I never thought to try saving it - I just assumed it would work.

Sorry to superpina and Timmychuck, ignore me!

You should have known. AC3 encoders are being held tighter
than Bill Gates' sphincter. Even the TMPGenc plugin requires
Internet validation every millisecond or so , after you pay for it.

  9. Hi guys,

So I am assuming there is no tool capable of editing an ac3 file. I have Softencode, then I will save it as a multiple wav files, open them in a sound editor, fade in and fade out at them and save all again, then import all again in softencode to generate the new ac3.

Well thatīs it. If someone knows a tool that edits an ac3 file, please let us know.

Thanks and have a good day.
