had a mpeg movie having invalid streams...
usually I just ignore them and burn to vcd but this time...the burned vcd couldn't play...
I use Tmpgenc to re-encode the mpeg but the movie is also unplayable...

    how to solve this problem?
    Thks

What do you mean when you say "invalid streams"? Is this an error message you received somewhere? What are the specs of the mpeg? Does the thing at least play without error on your PC?

try to convert to vcd using nero but nero say - invalid stream errors
burn anyway, result - vcd is corrupt

If the movie can play on the PC, then the corruption, whatever it is, is not fatal.

Try using VirtualDUB to process the video. If it's an MPEG-1 video the normal VirtualDUB will do. If it is an MPEG-2, then you need the VirtualDUBMPEG modification. (look at the tools section for links).

Processing with VirtualDUB involves saving it as AVI, using a codec. For a downloaded video, DivX with Constant Quality set to 4~5 will be good enough.

Then you re-encode the VCD with Nero as normal.

If VirtualDUB can't process the whole movie, it will abort at a specific frame. Keep a note of the frame number and select a range from start to the problem frame minus 2-3 frames and save Part 1. Then select another range, starting from the problem frame + 2-3 frames and save part 2. If part 2 has a problem, repeat the step as above saving separate parts.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
