  1. Hi,

I am new to converting AVIs to DVD as I just got a new DVDRW drive. I manage to convert a movie in AVI to DVD with subtitles using numerous tools from tutorials on numerous sites including here.

I have a question about handling movies that comes with 2 AVI. How do you guys handle it and calculate it's bitrate to encode to MPEG2?

Do you combine the files into 1 movie first then convert to MPEG2 or convert each file seperately and handle it's subtitle likewise?

Is there any tutorial on this subject?

convert each separate. you calculate the bitrate for the total runtime of both clips. joining just cause problems.

  3. hmm..how does then the 2 mpeg2 files handled when creating DVD vob files?

I create them using IFOedit which doesn't seems to handle multiple video files.

But if I use tmpgenc dvd author, which handles multiple videos, it doesn't handle subtitles.

  4. Use VirtualDub. First demux if audio is mp3 VBR. The remux video with wave. Then open the first avi and select "Append avi" in the FILE menu. then select "Direct Stream Copy" in the Video menu. Then save this AVI. I just did this procedure last week and it worked. With the big AVI i used TMPGenc to encode to DVD !
    Good Luck.
