I am able to copy dvds to my HD fine. They burn good but occasionly i get some after being burnt that freeze, skip chapters, revert back to title screen or just stop altogether when i a standalone player

Anyone got ideas on why some work perfect and some are getting these problems. i'm getting sick of the coasters lol

It would help if you could give more details:

Have you eliminated Media as a possible cause ? try different brands ?

You could try burning slower (if you are burning at max speed). You could try different software, e.g. DVD Decrypter->DVD shrink->Imgtool->DVD Decrypter (Burn). all free. You can also try the img from Imgtool on your PC DVD player.

Are the films that have problems longer films needing more compression?

DVD-R,RVD-RW, have you checked the compatibility of your player to the left ?

Try some of the above, should just be a process of elimination.

Low quality media? My impression of high quality (hence expensive) media is that the average disc quality is higher. El Cheapo discs might individually equal a hi Q disc, but on the average they don't. Cheap discs: 1 coaster out of ten, expensive media 1 coaster out of 100. (When I worked in the blank CD business, the brand names used to say that this was the diff between their (more expensive) discs and bulk unbranded blanks. I think the same goes for blank DVD)
