Hello there,
I have made a few vcd's using a combination of amoung others:
smart ripper
dvd2avi
virtualdub
tmpgenc
nero 6
The finished, split mpg files look absoloutley great on the computer screen but once i have burned them to disc and play them on my dvd player something goes wrong.
The black always seems a a much lighter greyish colour but the most apparent thing is that all the shading and shadows have a brownish tint to them and are completely solid like when you look at a laptop screen at the wrong angle or when you use a solarize filter in photoshop. I'm sure it's not just a result of the encoding or bitrate because like i said the files look fine on the computer.
It happens on peoples faces, hair, hands, on clothing pretty much everywhere there is a shaded area that isnt pure black. I dont understand. I played the files again on my computer and they were fine.
On the tv screen it had gone a flat brown colour, on my computer i could still see all the detail in the darker areas. Apart from these issues the vcd's looked great playing, very smooth and good resoloution but obviously this is ruining it completely . When i tried putting the actual vcd in the computer the problem was less apparent but still there and certainly different to my finished mpeg files prior to burning.
Could it be nero making the difference?
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
Could maybe get a screen shot if it helps
