  1. having trouble with this video and dont know what it is. Actually doing my fith trial as I write this.

-First trial: encoded it to m2v using 3500bps CBR (TMPGENC) and extracted audio using goldwave into a wav file. then converted wave file to ac3 using ffmpeggui then authored.
-Results: Perfect quality video (same as source) but freezing in about 6 points through the whole video while playing in standalone DVD player, you could fast forward and rewind it with no problems.

-Second trial: Same as before whole process but with 3000bps CBR
Result: Same as before, freezing in same spots. watching DVD bps in DVD stanalone and it doesnt go above 5500bps

-Third: Scanned for bad frames (none found) encoded using VBR 6000bps max, 4500 average, 3000 min. Used same audio files from second trial. (not sure if i switched a tab in TMPGenc that I shouldnt)
-Resultame as other two trials, but now picture freezes at exact same spots and picture also frezzes when trying to rewind and stops fast forwarding when trying to go at 3x in standalone.
assumed the freezing at the same spots had to do with the audio file

-Fourth: fixed ac3 using bslice, video encoded using 3500 CBR
results: perfect quality video, video no longer freeze in those spots, as a matter of fact whatched a very big part of it and doesnt freeze. BUT it freezes when trying to rewind and stops fastforwarding when trying to go for 3x speed, also noticed video bitrate spiking to tops when pressing these buttons on the DVD player.

Trying to figure out if I screw up to much with the settings in TMPGenc during my second and third trial but dont know what it is. trying to make an NTSC video using.

Does anyone know what can cause this bitrate spiking to tops when rewinding and fast forwarding????

  2. For me, You just described bad DVD media. Burn slower, verify after burn, and use media your standalone like.

    Don't fast forward or rewind.

Put chapter stops at 3 minute intervals.

If that doesn't get you close enough to where you want to be then you are impatient.

  4. Didnt mentioned before but is definetly not bad media.
trial one was burned in two different media brands and freezes in same place and different burning speeds outcome was exactly the same, one was -r other was -rw both different brands, so definetly error in the whole authored video.

later trials where made with -rw discs, so I dont burn coasters and use these discs to give it a try to most of my projects.

I guess I coild put chapters at 3 min intervals but that is not the fun of trying to auuhor a dvd that works for real.

I don't think any home made DVD can be totally free of some "issues" when attempting fast forward and especially rewind.

Plus some stand alone DVD players handle this better than others. Perhaps your model is not that good at doing it.
