When ripping, you can either select 'MAIN MOVIE FILES' or 'MAIN MOVIE FILES + IFO'.... What are the IFO files, and what difference does it make to either have them ripped or not?

    thanks

The ifo files are needed if you want to compress the disk to fit on a DVD-R. You should use "all Files" as most compression programs require ALL files.

'Select All files' - I usually do choose this option, then re-author with DVDShrink for just the movie only. I was wondering if one can reauthor through just dvd decrypter by choosing movie files only? Is there a way?

  4. No you cant reauther in DVD Decrypter, the .ifo files are the road map of the dvd, if you want just the main movie rip just the movie and no ifos then you will rebuild you ifo's to plot out the layout without the extras, you can use ifoedit to do this. If you want the highest quality video and the main movie can fit onto 1 disc you can use that method. Very easy to do, all free tools and exact quality.

wetmonkey, thanks for the reply. Would this method actually be superior in quality over using DVDShrink for a movie that required no compression?

    No.

No compression - no quality loss
