a question on Tmpgenc

hi

i tried opening wmv file on TMPEGNC and it says "illegal stream format
what does that mean???
I already read the sticky for tmpegnc and i followed the intrsuctions on what to do if I have problems opening wmv files but the message "illegal stream format" still appears

You sure TMPGEnc even supports WMV format ? I thought it was a Microsoft Patents forbidden them from converting it to another format

I had the same problem using TMPGEnc, but solved it by using EO Video to convert (wmv to avi). Hope this helps .

I've never had trouble converting WMV with TMPGEnc. Make sure your versions of Windows Media Player and DirectX are up to date.

I used tmpgenc for converting WMV a few years back, it worked ok but had some audiosync problems. A small but not-so-good encoder called blaze media pro did it properly for me, it has an evaluation period where it can convert to SVCD. As i said, not so good quality, but not so much worse than tmpgenc.
