I have some episodes of Friends and Smallville captured from HDTV that I want to convert to dvd mpeg using TMPGEnc. I have used this program without a hitch before and so I was surprised to find that the resulting mpg file lacked the sound. According to Gpsot the episodes have the following values:
Xvid, fps 23.97 and the sound is 055(mp3) and the Smallville epiodes have 123 kb/s (61/ch, stereo) VBR LAME3.93 while the Friends episodes have 142 kb/s (71/ch, stereo) VBR. I am trying to convert to PAL DVD. Any ideas? According to Gspot I have 2 compatible codecs for both audio and video.

Could be a VBR problem, but from what i read here that should cause audio desync only. I think i would try to extract the audio with virtualdub, using full processing mode, then use that wavefile as input to tmpgenc when encoding. Or, i wouldnt use tmpgenc at all actually, but you like to use it i think so ok
Try the extracted Wav file in mediaplayer or somthing after extracting it.
