    hi everyone,
before i post my problem, first of all let me say im pretty much illiterate when it comes to audio video stuff..

ok..i just got myself a ps3...i have some mkv files which i converted to mpeg formats so it is playable on my television via ps3..

i have a samsung lcd television but i do not have a home theatre system because im fine with just using television speakers alone.

my problem is some of the movies that i play on my television via ps3 have sound and video BUT some of the movies have just video but no sound!!..im using a hdmi cable for both video and audio when using ps3, because im not sure how to connect av cables(yellow, white and red ones) to my television...i have no clue as to why i dont get sound coming from some of the videos...could it be that the problem is with my television???

when i play all the movies on my laptop,i get sound..so am i missing any codecs when i play them on my television??i tried messing with the audio settings on ps3 menu, but no avail..

secondly, when i try to convert some of the mkv movies using mkv2vob,i get this error'unsupported video codecs-mpeg2'..it happens to one or two mkv files but the rest are fine when i convert them...

anyways i would be very much grateful is someone could help me with my two problems..

thanks so much everyone and have a great day...

  2. You doen't need to convert your files. Use TsMuxer to remux them to m2ts format. If you mux them with MKVmerge be sure you have select zlib in compression option. If not the extension mode will be header stripping. PS3 don't like that.

    PS3 prefer AC3 audio in m2ts files and AAC-LC in mp4. MP4 transport h.264.
