I am trying to move video from my Sony PC100 DV camcorder to DVD. I have tried capturing to my PC using Media Studio Pro 6.0, Nero 6, and WinDV. I have converted to MPEG-2 using MS Pro 6.0 and TMPGEnc. I have authored the DVD with Nero 6. I consulted the Afonic guide for DV to DVD.
In all cases, my DVD video ends up looking very blocky, as if I were using the wrong resolution somewhere.
I have checked my settings and made sure they were 720x480 in all cases. Does DV automatically capture onto the PC at that res, or have I missed a setting somewhere? What should I look for to improve the quality of my DVDs?
Thanks for your help.

Does the AVI capture file look ok if you play it on the computer? Did you set the correct resolution in TMPGEnc? When you capture from you DV camcorder WinDV should save it as an AVI file. Then you should take this file into TMPGEnc and convert it to mpeg-2. Then author with TMPGEnc DVD Author and it should all look good.

I examined the AVI file, and it looked fine. The MPEG file was poor, however. I re-ran TMPGEnc, using the wizard this time, and the MPEG (and the DVD) look fine now. I'm not sure what setting I changed by doing this, but I will investigate and report if I find out. Thanks for your help.
