    Hi!

I have a movie in a dvd-r disc but the subtitles are horrible.
My ideia is to change them with good ones. Is this possible?

I think I have to decrypt the dvd, change the subs and rebuild again, but how?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. 1.VOBedit...Strip the dvd into m2v/sup/ac3/dts files..
2.SubtitleWorkshop make new, or download new sub, sync it to fit the dvd, convert to sup (srt2sup)..
    3.Author with ifo edit..

Its really simple...The hardest part could be to get your hands on a new sub, who syncs..

Hi, Hicky, do you know if I could be able to make a Mini DVD with Ifoedit. I Don't have a DVD recorder yet, and i'd like to Try out your method, because I live in Brasil, My language is Portuguese, and , my familly dont speak english, so im forced to add Portuguese subtitles to my Divx movies, but I have to use cables do link my TV/audio out until my 34" Tv , its boring. I intend to make DVDs from my Divx movies, but , Subtitles are mandatory for me...

    Thanks

  4. I think you are probably better off watching your divx movies through the cable link to your tv. If you get a burner you will quickly realize that converting divx to dvd takes forever and the output quality is sometimes very poor. Since those videos are in a compressed format and there is already quality loss the dvds you make will, at best, be the same quality as the divx. If you use a poor program to convert those to dvds you will be very dissappointed. However, if you do I have had terrible experience with Ulead products. I would recommend Sonic MyDVD Studio.

Oh, Quality is not my point here, because I'm aware that converting to DVD I wont have ANY gain in quality. Ive already convert my Divx to Mpeg 2 files using Tmpgenc and Virtualdub frameserving to it with Text sub pluggin to make the final Mpeg2 file with the subtitle permanent to the video. And Im not interested to Autor to DVD, I record it to CDR, a 140min movie fits on 2 CDRs(using a low bitrate as 1600Kbps), I think that if the original Divx file is already a lowbitrate movie, Why on earth I should use 6000Kbps to convert it to DVD. So What I intend to do is convert to Mpeg2 , with a bitrate of 1600Kpbs,Keeping the aspect of the original movie. This way on a DVDR media, I could put 2 movies on it.

But, writting this I realized that I won't be able to make the Mpegs with subtitles apart. DVDs require sub in bitmaps ,or something like this. So , I think that I'll have to keep on frameserving with Vdub to put permanent subtitles on my Divx to burn even on DVDR medias. Only if I autor to DVD I wold be able to select subs, yes or no???

PS:My DVD player supports ISO files playback...

hmm... there's a guide around here about adding subs to an existing dvd (or whatever it is you do.. i didn't really get it...)
anyway it's fairly easy and i personally think they're much better then permanent subs... u just convert the .srt subs (which u can make in subtitleworkshop) to .sup files which are the dvd format using srt2sup (a GREAT app...) u can also play around with dvd/subs colors with supremap (from the same creator...)
if you want specific help about subs u can also pm me...

With all due respect... and there is respect...

Tkamin, great clue. It funcioned, very well, I used DVD author, to make a minidvd with subtitle. GReat, but no menus possible, Do you know of an DVD Authoring program that has Menu and Subtitles capabilities. I have Uldead dvd movie factory, TMPGenc DVD author, Nero, none of them have options to add subtitles...

    Thanks...
