  1. I have had a sony DRU-500A since release

But im having a bit of trouble

I can only burn at 1x to get a completley error free disk (Using DVD Info Pro)

every time i go to 2x and 4x i get losts of read erors on the last part of the disk. I have only once burnt a completley error free disk on 4x and dont want to waste lots of disks on 4x with read errors.

    Here is my computer setup

    IDE Cable 1

    Master - 60GB HDD = 2 Partitions
    Slave - 20GB HDD = 1 Partition

    IDE Cable 2

    Master - Sony DRU-500A Firmware 2.0H
Slave - DVD Rom - Liteon

    Win XP Pro
    256 DDR Ram
    64mb Video

Burning With DVD Decrypter, Nero and Record Now Max

Is there a better way to have them setup on the ide cables, or have error free burns

    any help would be great

You've left out the most important part of the equation. What kind of media are you using. Bad media will typically burn "well" at 1x and if you crank up the burn speed, that's when you begin to experience problems. You also did not mention whether the resulting DVDs play well on the standalone player, no matter what DVD info reports.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. sorry about that

    Im using Princo 4x Disks

and they will play but the last bits will go all bocky and squary.

  4. Simple. Don't use Princos, they aren't for your Sony & they also tend to delete data after a year. Get the right media. How about some Accus or BeAlls? Don't change your firmware without keeping the old firmware somewhere cause Sony doesn't keep it for download.
