I transferred video footage via ATI AIW 8500DV (8.1 MMC) as an AVI file using the HuffYUV codec. The only problem now is that when I open the AVI file in Vegas 4.0 the video will not play back correctly. The image is upside down, horribly pixelated and distorted.

Can someone tell me how to correct this problem with Vegas 4.0? Is there somewhere I have to install the HuffYUV codec in Vegas 4.0 for it to recognize and decode this information?

    Please help....
    Thanks,
    Darren

    Hello BJ_M,
That did it! Thank you so very much...

However, now I have another problem. I can open up the AVI file just fine in Vegas 4.0, but the audio is not synched properly to the video. The video leads the audio. Any idea how to fix this?

Coincidentally, when opened up in the 8.1 MMC the audio and video are synched just fine.

    Help....
    Thanks again,
    Darren

that is odd they would get out of sync .. but its easy in vegas to resync .. just slide the audio track until its in sync ... you can "nudge" it with the 1 and 3 keys on the number keypad after you select the audio track only..

remember to regroup them after ..

Is there something I can do so that it doesn't get out of synch? Does anyone know if there's something within Vegas 4.0 that will help keep it synched so I don't always have to mess around moving the audio track?

they dont get out of sync in vegas -- it has to be something before you brought them in ....

I played the footage using Windows Media Player and the audio synch problem didn't occur there. What do you think is causing it to fall out of synch then?

it may be sound card drivers -- it appearing out of sync on playback

you should make a 2 pop type video with a click track and then you can visually see if it is out of sync

I'm sorry, but I don't know what interleaving means.

I have done some more research and here's what I've been able to accomplish.

When I remove 8.1 MMC and re-install 7.7 MMC, the synch problem disappears. However, the best sampling rate I can use is 44.1 KHz 16bit stereo. I'd like to use 48 KHz/16 bit stereo.... aside from updating to 8.1 MMC, is there anything else you can recommend for me to be able to enable the use of 48KHz/16bit stereo?

    Thanks for your continued help.

44.1 is ok .. just convert it in vegas .. seems a simpler solution
