  1. but standalone player will.

I am having a very strange problem my computer will not recognize any types of burned dvd+r on either my dvd-rom drive. I have burned both data disk and video disks. The video disks play normally on my standalone dvd player, but when I insert them into my computer it keeps telling me to insert a disk, even though a disk is inserted. I have been able to get the sony burner drive to recognize the dvd+r disk after I updated the firmware to 2.0c.

However all my computer drives and standalone dvd player both recognize disks that I have burned on dvd-r media.

I have a sony-dru530A, using nero 6.3.0.3, and the brand of dvd+r that I am using are memorex 4x in the purple case made in taiwan.

I am just wondering how I can get my computer to recognize these burned disks.

    Thanks for u're help!

  2. I have actually resolved my problem...apparently my dvd-rom did not support dvd+R media..so I went on the dell webste and was able to download the firmware to update that drive to one that does support dvd+R. I flashed my drive and no it is working properly and able to read all the dvd+R disks that I throw at it.

Oh I had a NEC DV 5800a so if anyone else has the same drive...beware u have to update the firmware in order for the drive to recognize dvd+r. Also if u have a dell 8100-8200 and got a samsang SD-616T there is a similar firmware issue... as I found when i tried to play the dvd+R on my bro's comp. Both comps now play the dvd+r fine

    Hope that helps some people!
