  1. I recently signed up with Netflix; I ordered Star trek 111 the search for spock. The copy I wanted was the single layered version form 1984; But I received the dual layered disk one from the 2000 special edition. Does anyone know if they have the single layered versions of the Star Trek Movies?

  2. You can use dvdshrink to make it fit on a single layer disc.

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.
/ Moderator BJ_M do not advocate warez -- also, why would mater on the rental disk what size it is?

Are we really advocating that he copy a Netflix DVD??
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  4. Tread carefully here my friend. Not saying you are, but copying a netflix disk is of course, illegal.

No, the format was officially released in '96. He just means the initial release of the 1984 movie, not the 2000 re-release. I've seen both versions, trust me the re-release is much better.

  7. was DVD around in 1984?
    Nope

  8. I meant no harm in my post about using dvdshrink, just trying to help the poster as I thougth he wanted to backup his copy of a movie that he purchased through Netflix. It is legal to backup a movie if you own it right?......

............oops, I just did a search on the net and found Netflix to be an online RENTAL company so to backup the movie would be ILLEGAL. Sorry for the mistake guys! A moderater gave me a warning for my mistake. Wouldn't the original poster be in violation as he posted this under the "dvd to dvdr" section?

I've dealt with Netflix alot, and sometimes they can be really goofy. Like if you look up a movie, they'll show the cover art, and the description from a newer released version of the movie, but they'll still send you the older, original version. Like I wanted to rent Star Trek VI from them, hoping to get the newer version, but got the original release instead. So I guess it's all luck.

  10. I have seen the 2000 re-released version. I want the 1984 version because I have not seen the "origional" version of the movie. I did not say anything about copying it.

Yes. There's no room for interpretation there. DVD to DVDR = "I want to backup a DVD"

Since he's talking about Netflix, guess what? Warez.
