  1. I just saw the new Star Trek movie and I was so amazed! The sad / dramatic theme, the dark / sinister characters & the awesome and imposing sound track, all add up to an excellent sci-fi film! This was vastly superior to the previous Next Generation films, with the cheesy dialogues & boring characters (Especially Data) and the fact that the story-line & plot were actually sad and dramatic, made this so much more interesting.

I love the part towards the end when Kirk & Spock beam up into Nero’s space-ship and while Kirk fights hand to hand against Nero, Nero reveals to him that he actually knows him from Earth’s future history and that he would deprive him from that future life. Implying indirectly how famous and what a great hero Kirk was in his time.

This film, along with Star Trek I (Motion Picture), II, III, V and the Star Trek Voyager series, is the best of the ST universe in my opinion.

Also the new Starship Enterprise looks so cool!

  6. It's quite shocking to realize that after the cataclysmic events of this new Star Trek reboot & the destruction of Vulcan; basically all the other Star Trek films and series were as if they never happened! So in essence, captain Sisko & the federation never wage war against the Dominion, Captain Picard never encounters the Borg, Kirk doesn't face the sinister V'Ger and Captain Janeway’s Odyssey in traversing through the entire Delta Quadrant & all the adventures & epic encounters with some of the most dangerous races of the Galaxy were all as if they never happened!
Only captain's Archer's voyages don't get affected by these events.

Personally I like this mind-blowing prospect and it’s very interesting to imagine what kind of new plots & story-lines they will come up with next.
I would love to see Captain Kirk facing the Borg!

Star Trek II is another awesome sci-fi film. Especially Khan is a classic villain!
The part when he interrogated Chekov and Terrell and put the alien worms inside their ear was so cool and scary!

“Allow me to introduce you to Ceti Alpha V's only remaining, indigenous, life form. What do you think? It killed twenty of my people, including my beloved wife. Oh, not all at once. and not instantly, to be sure."

“You see their young enter through the ears and wrap them selves around the cerebral cortex. This has the effect of rendering the victim extremely susceptible to...suggestion.

These are pets of course. Not quite domesticated!”

  8. **Spoilers!!**

Star Trek Voyager was the best of the series imo.
What made it so cool and interesting, was the fact that they were alone & stranded on the other side of the Galaxy and managed to get through some of the most extreme situations. It shared many similarities to Homer's Odyssey, it took place in so many different worlds and they came in contact with the most dangerous & varied alien races, more than any other Sci-fi series. Let’s not forget the epic encounters against the sinister & evil Borg. All this combined with excellent humor and resourcefulness from the side of the crew and Captain Janeway.

Anyway the best character in Voyager by far and possibly the best character in any Star Trek series has to be the emergency holographic doctor:

    Star Trek Voyager - 2x17 - Dreadnought

    - The Doctor, Kes & Samantha Wildman on sickbay, trying to find a name for her new-born baby girl...

It doesn't have to be a human name. I like Soral.
    It's Vulcan.
Yes, I'm fortunately it was also the name of a dictator on Sokura prime, famed for beheading his rivals...and his parents!”

Star Trek Voyager - 5x22 - Someone To Watch Over Me

    - Seven of Nine and B'Elanna Torres

"I have been observing you. It's part of my research on human mating behavior."
(reads from the PADD) "Stardate 52647, 1400 hours. Subjects quarrel in corridor outside female's quarters. Male returns with 12 flowering plant stems, species Rosa rubifolia, effecting a cessation of hostilities. Stardate 52648, 0300 hours. Intimate relations resume."
"How the hell do you know when we're having intimate relations?"
"There is no one on Deck 9, Section 12 who doesn't know when you're having intimate relations."
"I want all the date you collected!"
    "I haven't completed the study"
"Then study this. Borg provokes Klingon. Klingon breaks Borg nose."
"Call sickbay, tell them there is about to be a medical emergency"

What made it so cool and interesting, was the fact that they were alone & stranded on the other side of the Galaxy, ...
That's the confusion part to me. I always thought they said, "half-way across" so which is it anyways ?

Yeah, ST Voyager was my favorite too. I'm working on collecting all seasons.

So far, I have seasons 2, 5, and 6 in my arson. I want to get season 1 because "Jetrel" was one of my favorite epsisode, for a first season-er. Still, I am having trouble remember what season an episode came from, where they visited a planet that could (and did) replicate the whole crew including the ship, and they too made their own "voyage" back home, only in this story, there home wasn't really Earth..it was back to their original planet but that was realized too late. But they did pick up techniquely like faster travel. That episode was an emotional one if you think about it. There's a few more episodes.. but this should really be for a "whats your favorite voyager episode" or something. Anyway.

I agree, the doctor played his part excellent, imho.

However, you should really reconsider "The Undiscovered Country" because it was imho a great film. I think it was prob better than all since it was their last. The music etc. melded perfectly into the movie. I love this movie so much. Its just too bad that one too many stars past on.. McCoy and Scotty, two main chars to not miss. Oh well, they were all great. The only ST I didn't really like so much was "Nemisys" (too lazy to look up correct spelling) it was too weird for me to like. And poor Data, he was killed, through suiside. It made no sense to end him, but thanks to contridiction, (recalling he was seen in many "future" encounters, if you remember the episode with Jordy when he no longer had those visors) anyway.

  11. Actually that story was divided into two separate episodes.
The one they visited the Demon class planet that replicated their entire crew & ship was:

    Star Trek Voyager - 4x24 - Demon
And the episode where the replicated crew tried to reach earth with their "upgraded" ship was played over a year later:

Star Trek Voyager - 5x18 - Course Oblivion
Anyway, the best Star Trek resource has to be Star Trek Alpha:
    http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Portal:Main
You'll find detailed info on every single Star Trek related topic in existence as well as all episode & movie guides.

As for Nemesis, I thought that was the best of the TNG films.
The last battle was the most furious Picard's crew had waged and despite piloting the Fleet's most advanced star ship (Enterprise E) it still got bitch slapped in the process.
I loved the part when they rammed into the Scimitar ship rendering it useless for a moment.

Actually Data was the most irritating character of the Star Trek Universe imo.
And what “future” encounters are you referring to? Nemesis was the last TNG film of this timeline.

I remember when the series ended on TV, when Picard had to go into the future by the use of Q, Data was there, and even had a streak of grey in his hair. Beverly and Jean-Luc had even tried to "tie the knot" but the marriage had failed. She was captain of the Enterprise, and the facts went on and on as I recall.

In "All Good Things..." Beverly was a captain, but not of the Enterprise. Admiral Riker was the captain of the Enterprise with the 3rd nacelle. And that whole timeline became an alternate future by the end of the episode(s).

  15. The destruction of Vulcan alone is enough to change the entire future ST story line as well as the entire Federation. Only 10000 Vulcan's survived so it's highly unlikely that Tuvok would have existed (who played such a large role in the Voyager series), or any other important Vulcan character, or the Vulcan fleet for that matter, in the rest of the ST series & films.

So everything after that gets irreversibly changed, including the TNG, DS9, VOY & the films.

I think there will be some ST film in the future where the new Star Trek crew encounters the Borg. It will be interesting to see how they’ll face them with their technology being 100years older than what the TNG & VOY crew mustered and still barely escaped and lived to tell the tale.

If The Borg queen fancied Picard so much in the TNG episodes & First Contact film, imagine how interested she would be for Captain Kirk who was admittedly the toughest & manliest of all the ST characters.

C'mon, retroborg, this is the Star Trek franchise. Every Vulcan that they want to write into this new future will have miraculously survived the destruction of their home world.

Tuvok should be the easiest to explain since he probably hasn't been born yet. All it would take is for Tuvok's parents to have been off planet at the time and they've survived. Keep in mind that he did serve on Captain Sulu's ship, so he will be born sometime within the current time frame. He may never serve on Sulu's ship, hell, Sulu may never get a ship, who knows, but it is possible for them to bring Tuvok in if they want.

    Same with Saavik.

Even Spock's parents could still be alive even though they've said they didn't survive. It wouldn't be the first time that someone that everyone thought was dead, mysteriously appeared. It's not like they could pick through the dead bodies on Vulcan and identify everyone who died there.

You are correct..remember how he had to jump in and kick Soran's azz for Picard, in Generations ?

Kirk was one tough sum-un-bitch indeed. He was the "Kirk" indeed.

retroborg, that is one original piece of artwork, surely.

    * my tricorder's decoder is broken..whats ROTFLMAO anyway ?

Is this movie out already in rental stores ? I thought it was selling for like $20 bucks a couple of weeks ago.

    . . .

And what “future” encounters are you referring to? Nemesis was the last TNG film of this timeline.
This was in one (or two even) TNG episodes. Data and Jordie were usually in them.

But, I think in one of them that I recall, it was one with a Picard storyline..the scene was depicting where Picard was (I think) going senile or loosing his mind maybe..and he was trying to convince Jordie that he was suppose to do something. Sorry, but the member of these episodes are so long ago, and I don't have cabletv--any tv anymore..almost a year now. I mostly buy tv series now.

Another Parcard storyline.. picard was passing through temporal "riffs" or moments in time every so often. You always saw him mostly trying to communicate with Data or Jordie--probably because he was closest to the two or they were the only ones that could possibly believe him, whenever he was trying to explain something crazy or whatnot.

Yeah, but if I recall right, these were alternate timelines / futures, same as when Geordi was commanding the USS Challenger in Voyager episode "Timeless" 5x06 and went after Chakotay & Kim at the Frozen planet that Voyager had crushed-landed...
The last Star Trek episode / film of the official timeline, was Star Trek Nemesis movie, where Janeway was shown promoted to an admiral after her victorious return from the Delta Quadrant.

Thanks retroborg. I just went to the link you posted earlier and found it..but it took some doing because I had to first find it (I closed that main page and had to search for it again at the website, but its not very well organized as I thought)

    http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Timeless_(episode) link found.

I was reading some of the blurbs at that page and found it interesting. And, I have that dvd season 5, so I can't wait to see it because I just don't remember ever seeing it. There are some episodes that I have never seen yet in some of these star trek series, so I look forward to them whenever I can I just don't pop them in--I wait till I'm ready, the momemt has to be right, and then I can enjoy. I set aside time for it and then I can aganize in anticipation..I'm setting aside time for tonight, I can't wait!

    . . .

Still, all these timelines are getting too distorted. I don't like it. I realize that paramount (or whomever these entities are that control what direction they will make/drive their storylines) want to revitalize fans with a new perspective or.. timeline. But that is just messing up our outlook at (all) history from the frachise. If they did this again with this latest movie I'll be disapointed to some degree but I will try to go in with an open mind

    . . .

In the mean time, (I got an idea) I am also going to grab all the franchise series and create my own instant-recall (database) that I can call up at will because the going to the webiste is too taxing on my dialup, not to mention, some of the images don't even show, like in that link above, none of the images are showing, unless they are down..

    . . .

oh yea, reading up on the part in the scene where they are uncovering some of the ice (the saucer section) reminds of the the episodes (forget which one it was) when they discovered for the first time (voyager series) the evidense of Borg when they found a drone covered behind a bush or something. When I first saw that, I thought that was a clincher, gave me goosebumps.

  27. Yeah I understand how you feel. I too have to be in the right mood to fully enjoy a good sci-fi film. I watched the entire Voyager series last year, when I had moved to a remote provincial small city on the other side of nowhere for 1.5 year, with nothing interesting to do, so Voyager was a good relief to get my mind off the general boredom.
The episodes were not in a continuous order either, so it was a lot more interesting reading about & searching through the episodes.

It was by pure chance that I discovered about the Voyager series too, when I read a loose article on species 8472 and once I saw the two "Scorpion" episodes, I was hooked.

These are the best episodes imo. Their plots, story-lines & special effects, have a full length film quality into them:

    Star Trek Voyager - 1x05 - Phage
    Star Trek Voyager - 2x09 - Tattoo
    Star Trek Voyager - 2x19 - Lifesigns
Star Trek Voyager - 3x04 - The Swarm
Star Trek Voyager - 3x14 - Alter Ego
    Star Trek Voyager - 3x15 - Coda
Star Trek Voyager - 3x16 - Blood Fever
    Star Trek Voyager - 3x17 - Unity
Star Trek Voyager - 3x23 - Distant Origin
    Star Trek Voyager - 3x26 - Scorpion Part I
Star Trek Voyager - 4x01 - Scorpion Part II
Star Trek Voyager - 4x07 - Scientific Method
Star Trek Voyager - 4x08 - Year of Hell Part I
Star Trek Voyager - 4x09 - Year of Hell Part II
    Star Trek Voyager - 4x15 - Hunters
    Star Trek Voyager - 4x16 - Prey
    Star Trek Voyager - 4x24 - Demon
    Star Trek Voyager - 4x25 - One
Star Trek Voyager - 4x26 - Hope And Fear
    Star Trek Voyager - 5x01 - Night
    Star Trek Voyager - 5x02 - Drone
Star Trek Voyager - 5x07 - Infinite Regress
Star Trek Voyager - 5x09 - Thirty Days
    Star Trek Voyager - 5x13 - Gravity
    Star Trek Voyager - 5x14 - Bliss
Star Trek Voyager - 5x15-16 - Dark Frontier
Star Trek Voyager - 5x20 - Think Tank
    Star Trek Voyager - 5x21 - Juggernaut
Star Trek Voyager - 5x22 - Someone To Watch Over Me
Star Trek Voyager - 6x03 - Barge of the Dead
Star Trek Voyager - 6x07 - Dragons Teeth
Star Trek Voyager - 6x12 - Blink of an Eye
    Star Trek Voyager - 6x19 - Child's Play
    Star Trek Voyager - 7x14 - Prophecy
Star Trek Voyager - 7x15 - The Void

they discovered for the first time (voyager series) the evidense of Borg when they found a drone covered behind a bush or something. When I first saw that, I thought that was a clincher, gave me goosebumps.
I felt the same in that part too! Very cool & sinister moment indeed!
Especially in “Unity” episode when they cleared the purple nebula and run face to face with a huge deactivated Borg cube!

What’s a “clincher” by the way?

I just finshed watching 5x06 "Timeless" and I must say, it was a very good episode. Seven is always hot!
Anyway. I just wanted to report back that, (right after I had finished my piano lessons..I gotta WK-200 and been loving it and sometimes can't put it down) Anyway. back to original post, I guess the new Star Trek movie in question here has still not hit the shelves. I hadn' seen it around anywheres in my browsing. I guess I'll have to sqirm some more waiting for it. I hate that.

    . . .

You know.., no one ever answered my question, which is it ?

1.did they get thrown across the other side of the galaxy, or
    2.half-way across it.

I thought Captain Janeway said (somewhere) "half-way" or someone else did in the series.
If anyone has all the subtitles please search them all out cause I'm pretty sure it, aprox 70k light years, half-way across.
