    I have some tapes that I would like to capture ?!? on my pc, in mp3 format ?!?!? and then burn to an audio cd.

    What is a good program for doing this ?

    I use SoundForge and Cooledit.

    Why do you want to save them as MP3 just to convert them back to WAV on CD?

    Why not capture to wav for cd authoring? Better quality that way, and you could always convert the wav's to mp3 for archiving on the pc. By the way, I would use Cool Edit/Adobe Audition for capturing.

    I want to keep them as mp3's on my pc, aren't wav's a lot larger ?

    save and edit as WAV. Burn to CD. Then convert to MP3 for backup on PC
