  1. have a laptop with win xp pro on it and is tryin to install a com port 1.... now even though in the config it says its not a confliting iq port or etc... it stll have the yellow explamtion point on it..... now i done tried everything from tryin to get different drivers to reinstalling the thing but it dont help.... i had a problem like this long ago with comports and never could find out what was wrong..... can anyone help wit this

  2. where'd you get the driver for it? From the Mobo/manufacturer site? When you go to the hardware manager, with the yellow dot. When you click "update driver" does it accept the new driver or say it's the wrong one?

    Also what kind of laptop is it? Model & make.

    think with xp you should be able to delete whatever, on restart if it needs will automatically be updated

    Is the device causing problems? Why bother with attempting to fix it if you don't use it, and it's not causing problems?

    I've had this:

    for years. It's not causing me any problems, and I don't use it, so I haven't bothered to fix it.

  7. i do need the com port thats why i am adding it on..... it is causing problems because of the explamation point

    Go into setup and disable the com port, generally Com 2, but yours seems to be stubborn. Does not keep you from installing more in Add/Remove Hardware. You can install as many as you need there.
