  1. I recently purchased a Leadtech TV2000 XP Deluxe and when I capture using any codec I am getting noise from the hard drive in the video.

I am using a NForce 2 (asus) with SATA Drives (no raid) and everytime the drive is written to I get black lines in the video...

Any Ideas? Do I need to ground something?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Update:

Tried moving capture card to different slots, no effect
Tried different Video Card, no effect
Tried grounding computer chassis to dish receiver, Capture card to power supply ground, hard disks to power supply ground, no effect.

The next thing I am going to try is IDE drive instead of SATA.

BTW 60 views and no help yet?

  4. Try Virtualdub there a noise filter. Also ATI AIW are very good they also have a noise filter in there software. You can get one for $33.00 dollars at www.pricewatch.com there a $500.00 card they all the same for capturing but there a big difference for video gaming.

  5. Thanks for the reply.. I tried virtual dub but could not select a resolution past 320, read somewhere that this is the case with the leadtek, but I do have an older version, I will check for a newer one...

Already have a 9800 Pro without video capture, don't want to get rid of it, wanted to go seperate cards so that if I am not happy with the caputure I can replace it without changing a $500 video card...

  6. You could buy a high end VCR JVC that take out noise reduction. I'm tell you ATI ALL is the best way to noise reduction.

  7. I dont see how a vcr would help, the noise only shows up during HD activity regardless of the source.. Using SVIDEO cable right now, also already have a high end JVC vcr with SVIDEO...

I used to have one of the older AIW and did not like it thats why I went the seperate card route, intend to buy a real capture card in the future, plus the AIW did not come past 9500 until recently.....

Try moving it to a different slot...sometimes that helps with noise issues.

  10. I was never a big ATI fan until the new software came out MMC 8.1 it ROCK"S. I still use my Dazzle 2 for satllite job's for recording it better then ATI AIW. but ATI AIW is very good not ATI AIW is software so they can do alot of upgrading in there software.

go to www.dazzlegeek.com look at my posting go to ebay and get a Dazzle 2. When you said noise problem's I thought you was backing up VHS. Alway's tell what you use. I can help out more.

  11. I am using the before mentioned capture card, using Sattalite receiver with svideo cable, Ati 9800 Pro, 2 x 120GB SATA Drives, VirtualDub won't let me select above 320x240 but Ulead MovieStudio and DVD movie factory both will go higher, also OEM PVR software lets me go higher...

With IDE Drive instead of SATA, I was able to capture 30FPS Full DVD Mpeg2 720x480 last night with no noise in picture, It would appear that the Serail ATA drives are the problem, might try to get sheilded SATA cables to see if that cleans up the noise....

Otherwise, mabey it is the onboard SATA controller that is causing the problem...

Anybody else ever have a problem with SATA?

  12. The TV2000XP uses WDM drivers. To capture in higher resolutions without using a PVR program, try a WDM capture app like VirtualVCR or iuVCR. Cards with WDM drivers really do seem to perform better. Using Vdub on the same computer with different cards that used VFW drivers, I'd always drop frames, no matter how short my capture was. With this card, I can cap in HuffyUV for several hours without dropping a single frame.

Can't help you with the SATA problem, I'm afraid. I still haven't even seen one of those drives yet.

  13. Hi,
I have the same problem, some twisted lines sometimes in my capture file.
Only one for a frame, but the frequency of the problem is not too high.
I have the problem with Huffyuv or MainConcept DV codec.
    I have also a Nforce 2 motherboard (Abit NF7-S).

My disks are a raid1 array on a HPT374 addon card.

So it seems to be hardware related. I will try to increase PCI Latency Timing.

    Regards.

  14. Hi

I am haveing the exact same problem with a BT878 based card to SATA, but only above 352x288. Try a lower resolution and if your problem goes away you can discount any sort of interference.

My conclusion after giving up on this forum and trying Tomshardware.com is that it is actually a bandwidth issue due to the SATA controller being hung off the PCI bus.

The advise I got was to throw away the SATA HDD until a decent motherboard appeared with the SATA controller intergrated into the southbridge.

    Hope this helps.

  15. FYI -

I have an ABIT NF7-S , using a RAID0 with two SATA drives, and have the exact same problem.

And I too believe it has to do with the SATA controller being on the PCI bus.

My temp solution is a 3rd hd, an IDE in there that I capture to. Now the interference is very rare.

  16. I had a similar problem with my captures, but my interference was visable while watching TV as well.
I fixed it by downloading the new Nvidia audio drivers (4.31). It wasn't the drivers that fixed it, however it comes with a System Utility, with overclocking utilities. I had my Front side bus/memory bus speed set to 322Mhz, I lowered it back to 166Mhz, interference completly gone!
I guess this can be done in BIOS too, I found the memory speed setting in my Asus A7N8x-x BIOS to be misleading.
Anyway it fixed my problem. Hope its a clue to solving other ppls probs too.
